In the Mid 1970’s a small group of farmers in Mid Wales, who all kept a few Badger Face sheep got together to exchange some of their sheep and started breeding Badger Face with Badger Face. A meeting was held to form a Society in November 1976 and in the first year 32 members joined including a farmer from Anglesey who had kept Badger Face for 40 years and had a flock of about 300 ewes.
The Society exists to promote and improve the Torddu and Torwen sheep, and membership is open to all who share this interest. The Society's governance is by a Committee and elected President and Vice-President. The Society Rules are set out in the Flock Book which is updated annually.
The Society has a busy summer schedule of shows, culminating in the NSA Show and Sale in September. Details of the shows and sales (past and future) can be found on the Shows page. The Annual General Meeting is accompanied by a dinner - a chance to socialise with members old and new.
